AVP, Systems Engineer

Do you have the experience and technical expertise to provide stable and reliable environments for engineers (Developers and Quality Engineers) to deliver seamlessly? Are you passionate about continuous improvement and proactive monitoring/alerting driving stable and reliable operations? Are you a technologist who looks for continuous improvement and finds opportunities when presented with problems?

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Technology organization as a AVP, Systems Engineer to drive initiatives ensuring stable and reliable environments supporting uninterrupted delivery, optimize/modernize the infrastructure and help onboard the applications to leverage the modern infrastructure (Cloud, containerization etc). 

Responsibilities:

  • Executes on the vision to enable the delivery of Stable and Reliable environments that allow uninterrupted delivery.

  • Proposes and develops self service capabilities with proper governance for the development teams.

  • Delivers proactive monitoring, reporting, conducts retrospectives driving Operational Excellence

  • Team player and leader who mentors junior resources and promotes best practices

  • Process oriented leader who explores/identifies opportunities delivering continuous improvement

  • Establishes clear and crisp expectations (OKRs/KPIs) and publishes periodic updates driving transparency

  • Drive automation and the adoption of modernized infrastructure (Cloud and Container strategy)

  • Responsible for the lower environments security, stability and availability.

What does your success look like in the first 90 days?

Learn the LPL key components including products, architecture, test infrastructure setup, how application engineers use the environments to deliver changes, DevSecOps tools and change/release process. Collaborate with the development and operational teams to understand the challenges and executes on the plans to deliver on stable and reliable test environments. Demonstrate sense of urgency driving proactive and corrective actions.

What are we looking for?

We want strong technology leaders who collaborate effectively across the departments and obsess on delivering solutions that delight the customers. We are looking for a technologist who has proven record troubleshooting complex issues, modernizing the platforms and contributing to the improvements driving process simplification. A team player who is a collaborator and helps create an inclusive and fun culture.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years overall technology experience with experience leading similar function

  • 4+ years’ experience working with infrastructure engineers and software development teams.

  • Experience implementing proactive monitoring, alerting and dashboards driving insights

  • Experience implementing IAC (Infrastructure as Code) and driving adoption

  • Experience leading Cloud migration to Azure and AWS

Core Competencies:

  • Strong technologist/engineer who has demonstrated experience working as a developer and operational engineer (Site Reliability Engineer) delivering operational excellence.

  • Data driven who establishes OKRs, KPIs and develops dashboards to effectively track the progress.

  • Experience creating proactive Monitoring and Alerting

  • Excellent soft skills, service oriented, ability to work with software and infrastructure engineers as well as non-technical clients.

  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Meticulous and process oriented to simplify the solutions and promote self service capabilities.

  • Excellent communicator who mentors staff and promotes the culture of innovation.

  • Experience with infra modernization and container adoption for applications

Preferences:

  • Ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working as a developer, system administrator, infrastructure engineer
