Job Overview:

As a key member of the LPL Technology team, the AVP, Development Enabler will act as a bridge between LPL Technology and LPL Ventures Lab. This leader will be part of LPL Digital Innovation team and will act as the face of technology to assist the Ventures Lab by being a one stop shop for technical solutions, facilitating standardization, cross-team coordination and support release management in the lab environment. This leader will be specialist that can perform credible challenges on technical decisions and act as an advisor and advocate for standards and best practices. This leader will have the opportunity to work with the latest business opportunities for LPL applying emerging technologies on bringing new innovative to market.

What is the Digital Innovation Team?

Digital Innovation team is a catalyst for new technologies, ideas, and processes. It collaborates with groups across LPL to generate ideas, co-create, evaluate, and demonstrate new concepts and solutions to create better experiences for advisors and employees, improve efficiency, and future proof products and services.

What is the Ventures Lab?

The LPL startup incubator that builds new revenue generating business lines. From a technology perspective, it hosts an independent development team to explore ways to innovate and develop new solutions that create value.


  • Be a technical liaison between business, product development and technology groups with a focus on security, architecture, and enablement

  • Be a technical coach and organizational mentor, educating through best practices and antipattern avoidance in the context of architectural standards, security, craftsmanship, etc.

  • Continuous definition and refinement of best practices, including implementation and operational plans supporting modern methods and architectures

  • Review technology decisions and actions taken by assigned organization and identify areas for pertinent credible challenges an optimal separation of duties

  • Coordinate with development, infrastructure, security, DevOps and architecture teams with a focus on governance, architecture standards and streamlined solution delivery

  • Manage, document, and enhance software release implementations

  • Oversee and advocate for timely software deployments, managing the implementation process from development through execution

  • Act as product manager for efficient statusing and coordination within the technology organization

  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure and Operations, Information Security, and product teams to perform discovery explorations and promote knowledge share across the company

  • Recommend solutions that improve the client and employee experience that may also increase efficiency, reduce risk, increase resiliency, and improve performance

  • Serve as an ambassador and steward of innovation and discovery processes

  • Support design of an independent but compatible AWS environment for rapid prototyping.

What are we looking for?

We want strong collaboratorswho can deliver a world-class client experience. We are looking for people who thrive in a fast-paced environment, are client-focused, team oriented, and are able to execute in a way that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.


  • 10+ years of experience within software development lifecycle management

  • Advanced understanding of cloud technology, with a specific emphasis on AWS and serverless

  • 4+ years of experience with AWS, Linux and Windows

  • 4+ years of experience automating via shell scripting

  • 4+ years demonstrated experience leading technical teams in the design and implementation of complex systems

  • Ability to work within a cross-functional team toward successful outcomes, possibly without direct authority

  • Proven business acumen and an ability to collaborate with senior leaders on the development and presentation of technical solutions to gain alignment

  • Effective oral and written communication skills and an ability to serve as a recognized subject matter experts on the team

  • Avid learner with a curious and open mindset

  • Strong communication, listening, planning, and presentation skills

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Lean/agile mindset

  • Technically creative

  • Passionate about fostering high-performing teams by cultivating a positive culture that prioritizes growing others

  • Demonstrated high-levels of Emotional Intelligence including self-awareness, self-management, social awareness to foster relationships and achieve positive results

  • Strong understanding of modern application design patterns and principles


  • Demonstrated experience-driving discipline within release engineering. Advanced familiarity and understanding of architecture and DevSecOps best practices.

  • Strong understanding of modern patterns such as event-oriented architecture, micro-services, containers, APIs.

  • Certification in one or more AWS cloud disciplines including architecture, development, systems administration, or specialties such as information security and data science a plus

  • Experience working in a startup or a lab environment a plus

  • Prior FinTech experience a plus
