Release Engineer (Tech Liaison)

Job Overview:

The AVP, Release Engineer (Tech Liaison) is a unique role. It will serve as the single point of contact for one of our business units. This role will support application releases, work with various teams for best practices with this business unit.


  • Manage, document, and enhance software release implementations

  • Oversee and advocate for timely software deployments, managing the implementation process from development through execution

  • Continuous definition and refinement of best practices, including implementation and operational plans supporting modern methods and architectures

  • Be a technical liaison between business, product development and technology groups with a focus on security, architecture, and enablement

  • Coordinate with development, infrastructure, security, DevOps and architecture teams for release planning with a focus on governance, architecture standards and streamlined solution delivery

  • Review technology decisions and actions taken by assigned organization and identify areas for pertinent credible challenges an optimal separation of duties.

  • Be a technical coach and organizational mentor, educating through best practices and antipattern avoidance in the context of architectural standards, security, craftsmanship, etc.

  • Act as product manager for efficient statusing and coordination within the technology organization

What are we looking for?

  • 10+ years of experience within software development lifecycle management

  • 4+ years of experience with AWS, Linux and Windows

  • 4+ years of experience automating via shell scripting

Core Competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience driving discipline within release engineering

  • Ability to work within a cross-functional team toward successful outcomes, possibly without direct authority

  • Proven business acumen and an ability to collaborate with senior leaders on the development and presentation of technical solutions to gain alignment

  • Effective oral and written communication skills and an ability to serve as a recognized subject matter experts on the team

  • Advanced familiarity and understanding of architecture and DevSecOps best practices

  • Advanced understanding of cloud technology, with a specific emphasis on AWS and serverless


  • DevOps experience within both small (i.e. startup) and large (i.e. Fortune 500) organizations

  • Experience working within a venture incubator or accelerator

  • AWS DevOps Engineer certification

  • Experience with GitHub Actions

  • Experience with AWS Cloud Formation
