Assistant Vice President, Sr. Content & Messaging Strategist

ABOUT THE POSITION

We’re looking for a strong leader who loves all aspects of content generation. From crafting the message to thinking creatively about syndicating content across multiple distribution channels and mediums—all while seamlessly managing the process. Imagine taking one single piece of content and turning it into a video script, an infographic, a blog, social media posts, or an interactive web page. This is the kind of creative vision we’re looking for on the LPL Marketing team.

Taking our content one step further, LPL’s senior executives deliver compelling narratives at conferences and events, with the critical support of the Sr. Content & Messaging Strategist. In this role, you’ll work with all our teams to tell the story of our organization, our products, and our unique value proposition.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

CONTENT MANAGEMENT:

  • Planning and coordination: Manage content planning process. Work with business leaders, project managers, writers, editors, and graphic designers to develop content, track assets, and maintain deadlines. Define governance and workflow of content creation. Interact with management to create and align on project goals and plans, including key updates on progress.
  • Measuring success: Have the ability to understand what’s working—or not—and adjust accordingly based on those results.
  • : Develop content strategy aligned with short- and long-term business goals.
  • Create and develop the end-to-end life cycle of content, which includes refreshing and repurposing content so that it can be syndicated across various channels and mediums. Consult with business partners to identify opportunities to syndicate content across distribution channels
  • Ensure existing content is refreshed and updated as needed, including developing project plans, timelines, trafficking materials, and entering work into marketing and compliance systems.
  • Marketing expertise: Stay on top of the latest trends in content marketing and digital channels; be the go-to expert on content marketing.
  • Project management: Responsible for managing projects with outside agencies and potentially sourcing and negotiating with outside vendors.
  • Develop editorial calendar that aligns with key campaigns, product launches, and firm initiatives; ensure there is transparency across the broader Marketing team and key business partners.

MESSAGING STRATEGIST:

  • Developing and maintaining a narrative across a large-scale conference or event: Ensure that the tone, topics, and theme of a series of presentations are aligned to deliver a unified message.
  • Partnering with executives: Engage and lead conversations with senior leaders across the organization in the development of conference/event messaging.
  • Speech writing: Develop and write speeches, briefings, and other communications for executive main stage presentations. Translate the ideas, objectives, corporate position, and management philosophy into messaging that relates to the topic, speaker, and intended audience. Must be able to write in a conversational tone to connect with the audience.
  • Coaching: Provide guidance (both in advance and on-site) for presenters at all levels, assisting with speech delivery, staging, stage presence, and other forms of preparation.
  • Partnering across the organization: Work closely with groups in the firm outside of Marketing, such as Corporate Communications, Conference Experience, and others.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Strong leadership experience and business acumen
  • Ability to lead and manage meetings and projects, and manage multiple and competing priorities
  • Experience working with senior executives
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills
  • 4+ year’s recent and relevant experience in content and editorial planning and development, preferably within the financial services industry
  • Experience interacting with a design team and content developers, with working knowledge of editing, design, and production processes and meeting strict deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field
  • Previous experience in content development and management
  • Previous experience in conferences and event messaging
