Job Overview:

LPL is looking for an AVP - NOC Support Engineer to join our Technology team. The ideal candidate for this role is an exceptional hands on leader with strong coaching, mentorship and career development skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the Operations Monitoring team creating a culture that fosters engagement, passion, diversity, and enthusiasm for LPL's vision, mission, and values.

  • Participate in the development of LPL's Technology Operations strategy as it relates to operations intake, Monitoring, infrastructure, and day-to-day operations; Implement and operationalize the strategy.

  • Manage the design, documentation, security, implementation, and daily operations of reliable, secure, optimized, efficient, and scalable monitoring systems that support the delivery of exceptional Advisor and Employee experiences.  

  • Develop, document, and implement procedures and schedules for maintaining staff and resources supporting the Operations tools.

  • Contribute in managing production technology incidents to resolution, ensuring timely engagement, escalation, and effective communication to business, technology, and vendor partner.

  • Work with the Vice President of NOC Operations to identify new monitoring technologies necessary to support a modern, high-touch business strategy and develops recommendations and business/technology cases where necessary for presentation to senior management.

  • Assistance with developing, implementing, maintaining, and management of LPL's Operational Intake - with the end goal of ensuring that LPL is able to identify and execute on end-to-end monitoring,  detect problems , identify root cause, and respond/ recover from alerts and incidents.

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and oversee enforcement of policies, procedures, catalog request items, and associated plans for monitoring administration and user system access based on industry-standard best practices.

  • Provide LPL Technology with monitoring support services for applications, infrastructure, cloud (multi-tenant and hybrid) and hardware.

  • Conduct research on emerging cloud technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.

  • Remain informed on trends and issues in the IT industry, including current and emerging technologies and prices; advise, counsel, and educate executive and management teams on their relative importance and functional impact.

  • This position is required to work weekends and nights as necessary to ensure network availability and to support after regular business hours deployments of new systems, patches, fixes, and/or other infrastructure enhancements.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years' experience managing and directing an IT Operation with infrastructure planning and development

  • Advanced knowledge of systems design methodologies & development, including core infrastructure and enterprise-wide applications, as well as online applications, web-based systems, voice and data communications technologies, application frameworks & methodologies, AGILE development, open architecture systems, common programming languages, open-source software, business intelligence, and data analytics

  • Strong knowledge of Cloud Computing technologies (AWS Lambda, FarGate, Glue, EC2, etc) and how to monitor them effectively

  • Cross-platform knowledge and professional certifications in Cloud, Windows Server, Linux/AIX, Networking, Virtualization, Database, and Storage Platforms

  • Rich experience in metrics and observability and logging tools, such as SolarWinds/ELK/Grafana, experience in debugging system/processes/applications, experience with ITOM integrations/single pane of glass, such as ServiceNow, and keen troubleshooting instincts

  • Proven ability to effectively utilize analytical techniques designed to reduce frequency, duration, and impact of common business disruptions particularly as they relate to customer operations, electronic services and telecommunications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to Technical Leaders and Senior Executives

  • Strong leadership, inter-personal, and collaboration skills

  • Proven ability to increase employee engagement, build, retain and manage a highly-skilled and motivated team

  • In-depth knowledge of IT practices/trends in the financial services industry and operating policies

  • Strong project management skills and a track record of successfully managing change, process improvement, and operational performance

  • Ability to collaborate, build relationships, and influence individuals at all levels within the organization

  • Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills including the ability to identify and evaluate technical risk and opportunities

  • Able to work under pressure of time deadlines, be flexible, and able to shift resources and priorities as required

  • A continuous learner who has a thirst for keeping abreast of new and emerging technologies

Preferences:

  • Advanced knowledge troubleshooting and monitoring using Dynatrace and other related APM Tools. Dynatrace associate or Professional certification a plus

  • Experience with AIOps platforms, such as Big Panda, MoogSoft, ServiceNow, Elastic

  • Experience with middleware/data service layers, such as F5, Tibco, Kafka, Datapower, MuleSoft, caching technologies, MapR, authentication such as Forgerock, Robotic Process Automation such as Workfusion
