Automation & Digitization Developer

Job Overview:

The primary focus of the Automation and Cognitive Software technology team at LPL Financial is to design, build and maintain the sustainable, highly performant, scalable capabilities that support the delivery of world-class standards of software products and processes. As an Automation Developer/Engineer, you will be a part of a team responsible for designing and building the technology behind Digital Workers (aka Bots) and reimagined User Experiences that support Digital Operations for LPL.


  • Co-Design, develop, test, tune and implement n-tiered Cloud-hosted Bot-Apps & UI-apps

  • Collaborate with Business Product Team, other Agile/Development teams, Enterprise Architecture and with various LPL Operations Business Units to design, develop, test, and maintain the various Bot-Apps, UI-Apps & Automation platforms and their integration with other systems

  • Assess opportunities for application and process improvements and prepare documentation outlining platform road map

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, optimize and enhance existing systems

  • Work collaboratively with QA, DevOps, Release Management teams to adopt CI/CD toolchain and develop automation

  • Communicate with technical and non-technical groups regularly as part of product/project support

  • Design and develop core services and components with expertise in service-oriented architecture

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree in Computer Science, or related field required

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher required

  • 2+ years of app building experience (Python/Java/Spring Boot preferred)

Core Competencies:

  • Previous experience outside of the classroom such as an internship, hackathon, research project, or related experience in AI/ML and AWS

  • Any experience directly related to this opportunity

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written


  • RPA open source /community editions of tools such: RoboCorp, UiPath, WorkFusion, etc

  • Cloud-hosted Computer Vision or Document Procession services: AWS Textract, Comprehend, Augmented AI or Azure equivalents

  • Machine Learning experience in building any classification/recognition/NLP models.

  • Experience building end to end apps/services using Java (Spring Framework) or Python.

  • Ability to build explainer-style short-persuasive videos & podcasts—using various digital tools. Ability to build Data Stories and various diagrams (mindmaps, concept diagram, process flows, customer journey)

  • Facilitate group workshops to extract knowledge of existing processes
