Job Overview:

LPL’s Financial Planning Group is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Assistant Vice President (AVP) to assist our advisors with their most complex financial planning strategies through virtual comprehensive consultations.

This individual will be part of a planning consultant team within the Financial Planning Group responsible for providing timely, accurate and actionable guidance to LPL Financial Advisors on all areas of financial planning. Areas of particular focus include estate planning, tax planning, charitable gifting, and executive compensation.


  • Maintain a deep understanding of personal and business financial planning concepts and strategies in order to provide solutions and education to assist advisors and internal colleagues. 
  • Assist advisors via phone/webex in the design of financial planning solutions for their clients; help advisors illustrate specific cases concerning their clients within financial planning software; contribute to advisor satisfaction by providing timely and accurate advice.
  • Assist with content creation and delivery of financial planning educational webinars specific to complex planning strategies and solutions.
  • Consult with LPL Financial Advisors on all aspects of financial planning to increase the adoption of planning and provide practical guidance to new and existing planners to gain efficiencies and drive growth.  
  • Contribute to advisor growth by utilizing a data driven sales funnel approach to proactively engage advisors with financial planning opportunities.
  • Must gain proficiency in a variety of financial planning tools/software to include Client Goals, WealthVision/eMoney, MoneyGuide and RightCapital.
  • Maintain metrics to measure outcomes of advisor consultations to illustrate impact to advisor growth.
  • Clearly articulate the value proposition of offering comprehensive financial planning and the pillars of support that LPL’s Financial Planning Group provides.
  • Stay informed of financial planning and tax law developments and apply learnings to team and advisors as needed.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in personal financial counseling within a professional services and/or a financial planning environment
  • Licenses/Certifications Required/Preferred: CFP required. Securities licenses 7, 63, 65/66 are required or ability to obtain within 90 days. Additional designations are a plus.
  • Software/Systems Skills Preferred: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Salesforce, eMoney, MoneyGuide
  • Must have strong knowledge of financial planning software. eMoney knowledge is a must
  • Prior experience with complex financial planning strategies and solutions
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Advisors in person and via the phone, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Much show enthusiasm, passion and a drive for results.
