AVP, Growth Consultant

Position Summary:

The AVP Growth Consultant position within LPL Financial (LPL) exists to provide a sales and management consultative focus with an emphasis on client growth and retention through the adoption of LPL products, services and tools to drive and enhance revenue, practice management and end client service.  Client interactions on a day-to-day basis include relationship management at the executive level, Program Manager level and Financial Consultant level.  AVP Growth Consutants are fully responsible for a territory of financial institutions and a corresponding revenue goal based on all revenue associated with the financial institutions covered.  Ownership of results include Financial Advisor and Licensed Branch Employee (LBE) sales production, overall net AUM growth, and client satisfaction including client retention.  In addition to being responsible for financial institutions within an assigned territory, an AVP Growth Consultant serves as a contributor to the broader Business Consulting channel through being responsible for small- to mid-sized projects and work efforts that benefit the channel.

Essential Functions:

Consultative phone conversations, home office and field visits to Financial Advisors, Program Managers and executives at LPL financial institutions clients.  The goal of each conversation/visit is to deepen the LPL relationship with the financial institution by providing consultative advice focused on empowering the financial institution to reach its full potential regarding investment and insurance services, with an emphasis on:

Adoption of LPL and sponsor products, services and tools designed to achieve revenue growth and practice efficiencies in the advisor and management work processes

Articulate LPL and industry best practices and help the institution, Program Manager, Financial Consultant, and LBEs understand how to improve through actionable activities and execution

Evaluation, promotion and adoption of the various products, services and tools made available by LPL.


Coordinate LPL’s service, support and operational services to assist financial institutions toward reaching their goals:

Assisting Financial Advisors and Program Managers with accessing the right departments and subject matter experts within the firm.

Assisting Financial Advisors and Program Managers with overcoming challenges that will allow them to conduct their business in a manner consistent with the firms policies, procedures and processes for services, support and compliance.

Delivery of training, customized services, and problem resolution

Able to leverage strong relationships across LPL and able to leverage for others on the extended team as needed for team’s ultimate success


Other Job Duties:

1. Promotion of LPL and sponsor events to clients

2.  Presentation development and delivery at LPL sponsored events

Job Requirements:

Minimum Education Required:  Bachelor’s Degree Required

Minimum Experience Required: (including years of experience): Minimum 5 - 7 years of investment and/or sales and marketing experience demonstrating a history of success

Licenses/Certifications: Securities/Insurance licensed, FINRA 6 or 7 or ability to obtain with 90 days

Periodic travel required

Software/Systems Skills Required: Experience with Contact Management Systems, Sales Reporting, and Standard MS Office Applications (ex. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Additional information:

Qualified candidate will work to foster a positive, team-oriented environment within the Business Consulting channel, with other LPL leaders and with financial institution partners.

Performance assessment is based on a combination of customer satisfaction, activities and revenues.

Proven track record of exceptional results, relationship skills, sales skills, and marketing savvy.

Experience within the following industries:  financial institution industry, investment and insurance services.

Proven track record as a results-oriented leader, assertive, team player in a sales environment with personal production experience.

This high energy leader will be responsible for continuously driving improved processes, meeting deadlines, and getting the job done right on behalf of his or her clients. 

Person must have the ability to establish instant credibility with financial institution executives, Program Managers, and Financial Advisors.

Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.  

A highly organized self-starter with a developed sense of time management, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task, complete tasks to high standards, and manage personal productivity. 

Must be able to effectively organize multi-departmental workflows for efficient execution of tasks, analyze bottlenecks, and recommend cost-effective solutions.

Able to manage performance standards for measuring success.  Must be able to collect, audit, and evaluate results and provide go-forward recommendations.
