AVP, Network Security Manager (Tech Ops)

LPL is seeking an AVP, Network Security Manager to lead their network security products including Palo Alto and Cisco Next Generation firewalls.  This individual will be responsible for leading technical engineers, overseeing design, engineering, and operations management of network security products operating in a multiple data center environment and the cloud. The position directly relates to securing and protecting LPL, our Advisors and their clients.


  • Manage and develop a team of up to 5 FTE engineering staff and contract workers.
    Design, engineering, and operations of Palo Alto and Cisco FTD firewalls

  • Automation development using scripting languages such as Python or PERL and/or knowledge leveraging API’s for data exchange.

  • Engineering and operations of VPN and Cisco ISE/NAC remote access environment

  • Implementing firewall solutions in AWS cloud environment using an auto-scaling design

  • Familiarly with DDoS, proxy, honey-pots, and cloud network security technologies.

  • Troubleshooting complex network security issues and identifying root cause of issues and developing continuous improvement of the platform

  • Security hardening of platform devices reducing vulnerability footprint

  • Managing firewall service request using firewall orchestration services

  • Manage and optimize logging of firewall traffic and rule base activity

  • Maintain security baseline standards and design documentation and diagrams

  • Identify gaps in the current program and draft ideas to solve for.

  • Get to know LPL!  Understand where the business is going and what the plan is to get there.  Gain an understanding of the present culture. 

What are we looking for? We want strong collaborators who can deliver a world-class client experience. We are looking for people who thrive in a fast-paced environment, are client-focused, team oriented, and are able to execute in a way that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.


  • 3-5+ years’ experience in networking and working knowledge with routers and switches

  • 3-5+ years’ engineering and administrating enterprise level of Palo Alto and Cisco FTD firewalls

  • 1+ years of technical people leadership experience

  • Advanced engineering of firewall traffic and policy optimization, and ability to troubleshoot data traffic flow with packet captures

  • Enterprise level experience with L2/L3 networking


  • Prior experience in a InfoSec role

  • Security and Network Certifications desirable such as CISSP, CEH, CCNP, CCNA, CCIE.

  • 2+ year’s experience managing network security in a cloud environment.  AWS preferred.

  • Familiarity and experience with implementing a zero-trust architecture.
