Job Overview:

LPL Financial is looking for a highly creative individual to spearhead designing and launching a (new) strategy to source, recruit, and assess newer-to-the-industry financial advisors into established practices. As AVP, Advisor Institute Sourcing & Recruiting, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing a multi-pronged approach to identify, recruit and place high potential candidates with existing advisor practices.

The ideal candidate for this role is is organized, highly skilled in building scalable programs that address business needs, is an effective communicator and relationship builder, and has a strategic growth mindset.

LPL’s Advisor Institute (AI) helps people who aspire to become financial advisors achieve that goal. AI offers training programs designed to jumpstart the career of newer-to-the-industry junior advisor participants so they can make an immediate impact upon joining an established team. Our training specialists’ help participants learn the fundamentals of the business, navigate the logistics of licensing, and provide coaching and mentorship along the way to ensure their success. AI also offers opportunities to more established advisors in the LPL ecosystem committed to life-long learning and upskilling to stay at the top of their game. AI is looking for a driven candidate to stand up a new sourcing and recruiting arm to support our business’s need for a strong pipeline of fresh, high-quality talent.


End-to-end management of sourcing and recruitment programs including things such as:

  • Crafting a narrative that resonates with—and engages—potential candidates with our offering.

  • Marketing our value and driving high levels of awareness and consideration; Collaborate with MarComm colleagues to activate messaging in various channels and create a suite of supporting materials   

  • Conceptualizing and implementing a multi-pronged approach to find, attract and source early career (junior) advisors and successfully pair these candidates with existing practices looking to expand

  • Designing, building and activating new sourcing/recruiting programs that are relevant and address both the needs of our clients, as well as business objectives; Identify opportunities to scale to achieve our strategic vision

  • Creating and managing a diverse recruiting pipeline and implementing a high-quality candidate and client experience

  • End-to-end oversight of—and enhancements to—our new advisor talent assessment system

  • Assessing effectiveness of programs with an eye to identifying gaps and determining—then prioritizing and addressing—needs or areas of improvement; Uncover and implement opportunities that make the programs run smoothly while increasing the value and experience for those engaged

  • Developing and executing candidate and client feedback strategies to identify learnings and gain valuable insights that can be used to enhance the outcomes of the respective programs

  • Defining, tracking and measuring overall impact relative to key business goals

What does your success look like in the first 90 days?

In the first 90 days a successful candidate will learn about LPL, our broader business, structure and Advisor Institute team; get up to speed on the current offering and begin to formulate a multi-faceted approach for attracting, sourcing, recruiting and assessing potential new-to-the-industry financial advisor candidates.

  • To design, develop and deliver the most successful programs, the candidate will need to be organized and highly collaborative—with the ability to engage on multiple levels with key stakeholders and potential candidates; Exceptional project management and organizational skills

  • The ideal candidate will have solid presentation and communication (oral and written) skills and must be equally competent at engaging a large group as they are in a one-to-one interactions.

  • This professional must have the ability to present complex simply and clearly—highlighting the most relevant benefits to the respective audience

  • A successful candidate will have the ability to recognize and address opportunities to improve how programs are run and increase the value and overall experience of the candidates


  • Previous experience in a strategic recruiting role is preferred

  • Intellectually curious and strong strategic competencies; Strong, creative-thinking and analytical skills

  • Experience as a financial advisor, recruiter or similar industry experience a plus

  • BS in Education, HR, Communications, or related field a plus

  • Proficient in MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, as well as platforms such as SalesForce
