Job Overview:

The LPL Financial marketing department is seeking a content consultant with a writing background. You will combine your knowledge of writing, social media, and digital marketing with your business acumen to help create data-driven digital content for LPL advisors to use for email, SEO, lead generation, websites, and more. This role will be responsible for writing, editing, and project management, working closely with the Marketing Solutions team to create content for our advisors’ digital marketing strategies.


  • Report to the Digital Content Manager.

  • Work closely with the LPL Marketing Solutions team.

  • Lead the creation of original content, which often explain complex concepts, for our advisors and their clients: selecting the topic, collaborating with marketing consultants, and writing the tailored content.

  • Help develop an editorial calendar and generate compelling content ideas.

  • Leverage strong writing and grammar skills, an editor’s eye for accuracy, and a knack for making complex things simple.

  • Serve as a mentor to content specialists by providing specific feedback on their copy and story ideas.

  • Collaborate with compliance to ensure content, brand, and messaging are approved.

  • Collaborate with internal partners including LPL Research, compliance, marketing, sponsor relations, and more.

  • Embrace and champion our mission and cultural values.

  • Demonstrates initiative and creativity in identifying and meeting client needs, seeing projects through from ideation to completion.

What are we looking for?

We want strong collaborators who can deliver a world-class client experience. We are looking for people who thrive in a fast-paced environment, are client-focused, team-oriented, and are able to execute in a way that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, journalism, or related field.

  • Highly organized with a minimum of 5 years writing/editing experience in digital marketing, with a focus on multiple formats: long-form articles, ebooks/whitepapers, infographics, scripts, etc.

  • Solid understanding of writing and editing skills for B2C, blog, email, social media, and SEO.

  • Familiar with how thought leadership content is used to engage clients and strengthen an advisor’s relationship with them.

  • Proven ability to think strategically and holistically, be flexible and adapt to change.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as be a team player.

  • Financial services experience required – CFP, CFA.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.


  • Wealth planning experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with some design experience.
