Summer Intern, Sr Analyst - Client & Market Insights

The Market Intelligence, Data & Analytic Solutions (MIDAS) business unit is an entrepreneurial, high-performing group focused on building out LPL’s insights, data and analytic capabilities. Key focus areas include strengthening the use of our data and insights as a strategic asset, ensuring strong data quality/governance, and integrating analytics-based solutions into our firm’s DNA and the products our client’s utilize every day.

The Client Intelligence & Market Analysis (CIMA) team within MIDAS collects and analyzes data from a variety of sources to better understand our business, our clients/advisors, and our competition. CIMA delivers foundational client and market insights that combine with other data streams to increase knowledge and understanding for our stakeholders.

Interns will be integrated into the CIMA team and be key members who will assist in expanding our knowledge of advisors in the broader wealth management market and the investing consumers for whom they support. In addition, interns will assist in other assignments throughout the internship period.

Position Overview


  • Synthesize attitudinal, behavioral and segmentation data from multiple primary, secondary, and syndicated data sources to generate an actionable set of end-investor profiles
  • Conduct an analysis of the 1000+ advisors who are members of our online insights community; integrate survey response data with behavioral database information to develop a comprehensive knowledge repository for the community that could be used to model against our larger advisor population
  • Provide ad-hoc insights and analysis support for the Marketing Communications business unit and Investor Lead Generation program group
  • Develop Insights POV documents based on work produced and/or create newsletter articles, highlighting industry news, internal project efforts and related outcomes

Other Duties/Skill Requirements

  • College student who will have completed their sophomore or junior year in 2020
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data from multiple sources and summarize salient information
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Basic knowledge of survey Qualtrics or Sparq programming software a plus but not required
  • Basic knowledge of Tableau a plus but not required

Monday through Friday 8-4:30

Skills & Qualifications

  • College student who will have completed their sophomore or junior year in 2020
  • We prefer students in business, data analytics, psychology, social studies, anthropology, or related program, but will also consider other academic programs
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Proactive and action-oriented mindset
  • 3.0 Minimum Overall GPA Required
