Senior Software Engineer Legal Technology

Job Overview:

The Senior Software Engineer Legal Technology provides technical expertise to various custom and third-party applications used to support the needs of the Legal department.  The Sr. Engineer is required to partner with peers, business stakeholders, and colleagues from within and outside the Technology team to maintain and support the Legal applications, analyze and troubleshoot production problems, and drive improvements to platforms and the integrations between them.


  • Maintain, troubleshoot, optimize and enhance existing Legal technology systems and integrations.

  • Design business processes and integration between Wolters Kluwer Passport application and other applications including iManage and other custom database systems.

  • Assess opportunities for platform/application and process improvements.

  • Design, develop, test and implement technical solutions based on business requirements and strategic direction.

  • Involved in Analysis, Design and Development using Agile Methodology including daily scrum and sprint meetings.

  • Experience working with APIs and how they are typically called for data integration.

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and application integration partners.

  • Work collaboratively and effectively with quality assurance engineer teams, DevOps to ensure all SDLC processes are adhered to.

  • Collaborates with other Development teams, Enterprise Architecture and Support teams to design, develop, test and maintain the various platforms and their integration with other systems.

  • 3 years of experience configuring and supporting Wolters Kluwer Passport Matter Management system (Administrator and Designer roles)

  • 3-5 years of hands-on web and C#/.Net development experience integrating multiple application platforms

  • 3+ years of experience working in an Agile environment, including grooming, sprint planning, and daily standup participation

  • 3+ years of experience in SQL server procedures, views, indexes and performance tuning

Core Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Risk management and contingency planning.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with Legal team members.

  • Innovative, self-driven and quick learner with a desire to stay abreast of latest technologies.


  • Design and SDLC documentation, authoring and presentation experience.

  • Excellent understanding of SOA principles and design patterns.

  • Should have a good sense for Code Architecture and Design Principles.

  • MS Visual Studio, SQL Server, GitHub, Passport Matter Management

  • Experience supporting iManage document & email management

  • Experience developing and supporting reporting using Tableau

  • GitHub, Visio, Team City, Octopus, JIRA.
