Job Overview:

At LPL Financial we consider it our mission to take care of our advisors so they can take care of their client.  Joining as a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for planning, directing projects to help design, build and maintain the sustainable, scalable capabilities that support delivery of the highest standards of software products, processes.


  • Design, plan and lead solutions based on business requirements and strategic direction.

  • Utilize LPL’s strong Balance Sheet as a strategic differentiator from competitors and identify innovative solutions to help our advisors grow

  • Maintain and enhance the current Trading Platform for our clients to assist in efficiency gains for the advisors at LPL

  • Align trading capabilities with the marketplace so that we are competitive and look for opportunities to be differentiated from our peers

  • Collaboration with internal business partners, including client-facing teams, finance, and operations, to deliver best-in-class product solutions

  • Provide technical leadership to teammates through technical design, and implementation of best practices, adhering to LPLs SDLC and RM processes.

  • Collaborate with other Development teams, Enterprise Architecture, and Support teams to design, develop, test, and maintain the advisory systems and their integration with other systems.

  • Oversee and participate in activities that drive the design and development of high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems, delivering high availability and performance, using .Net, SQL, No SQL,  C#, AngularJS, Mule,  AWS Cloud platform, and Messaging/Streaming Services

  • Drive conceptual design and develop rough order of magnitude (ROM) level of effort estimations

  • Detect and solve technology delivery issues effectively.

  • Ensure service level agreements and contingency activities are covered related to system/application availability.

What are we looking for?

  • 5+ years’ experience in a technical lead capacity for a high performing platform management and software development team with 10+ years of professional software development experience implementing Microsoft .NET, SQL server, Mule, MQ messaging, cloud and/or event streaming experience

Core Competencies:

  • Capable of effectively planning, prioritizing, and executing tasks utilizing resources and tools

  • Experience working with remote teams, vendors, and contingent/SOW staff

  • Ability to effectively respond to dynamically changing work environment

  • Exemplary collaboration, interpersonal, and presentation skills


  • Experience across Advisory, Brokerage, various security types, and order entry platforms

  • Experience with 3rd party vendor trading platforms

  • Experience with AI/ML

  • Experience with DevOps, Continuous Integration/Delivery, Test Driven Development

  • Experience in Agile, SDLC, and SAFe understanding of various Advisory solutions (Onboarding, Advisory trading, rebalancing, and Support)

  • Expertise with Enterprise Integration patterns and best practices
