VP, Platform Engineering - Middleware

The VP, Infrastructure Engineering – Middleware will lead platform engineering organization responsible for enterprise middleware platforms. As a senior leader in I&O organization, you will have the opportunity to define/execute middleware platform strategy / vision / roadmap for on-prem and hybrid-cloud. This role will define next generation middleware architecture/platforms and be accountable for engineering of middleware platforms at scale.
Develop and lead infrastructure platform engineering teams responsible for middleware platform engineering and architecture
Work with product management teams, architecture and security to shape vision of future middleware platforms and services
Lead middleware platform transformation/modernization supporting always-on enterprise applications and services. Develop a progressive engineering culture that fosters creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Collaborate with IT stakeholders to develop, communicate and execute a multi-year technology strategy to simplify architecture, delivery model and drives transformational change
Accelerate infrastructure transformation to provision / manage infrastructure through infrastructure as code (IaC) to enable self-service and reduce handoffs.
Integrate/automate deployment and provisioning of highly available infrastructure across data centers/hybrid cloud platform to reduce overall time to market
Design/build/migrate core infrastructure platforms and services to Equinix data centers to improve overall availability, performance and scalability
Provide Tier 3 engineering support ensuring effective 24x7x365 support for assigned technology including vendor escalation
Partner with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity organizations to integrate disaster recovery processes with day-to-day technology engineering and operations
Build / Maintain strong partnerships with IT stakeholders including Delivery Engineering, Application Development, Architecture, Security and Operations to ensure technology investment enables/drives business strategy
Foster and drive organizational change through technology and process optimization
Establish KPIs to measure organization performance and effectiveness (Jira, SNOW )
Manage ongoing vendor relationships including evaluation products and services
Develop / attract / retain top talent to build and maintain a world class organization
Identify and eliminate risks in the environment that threaten stability, resiliency, performance, and security

10+ years of progressive leadership experience building / leading engineering teams in a large, global financial institutions
Demonstrated technology and people leadership experience in architecting/deploying highly scalable middleware solutions on-prem and cloud. Ability to shape strategic vision and lead change.
Proven track record engineering enterprise scale middleware platforms including app servers (Websphere, Weblogic, JBOSS, Tomcat), containers (Docker EE/Kubernates), Mulesoft, Tibco, Kafka, DataPower, Mulesoft, Informatica , Glue
Proven track record designing / building / automating virtual infrastructure based on AWS Well-Architected framework (ECS, EKS, API Gateway, Lambda, S3, EBS, EFS, IAM, EC2, Route53, SQS, CloudFront, CloudWatch, ELB, CodePipeline)
Experience leading engineering teams using Agile software development and LEAN/DevOps principles to deliver new platforms and services
Experience leading migration of infrastructure and applications to new data centers and AWS
Experience with open telemetry including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK , AWS Distro
Experience with IT Service Management (ITIL and ITMS)
Proven track record of infrastructure transformation focused on infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for end-to-end infrastructure deployment automation
Ability to convey technical solutions to the entire organization and experience working with senior leaders across the firm to leverage technology to drive positive business outcomes
Agile mindset; Possess a thorough understanding of modern work practices such as DevOps, Continuous Delivery, Agile project Delivery
Extensive experience working in large technology ecosystems with emphasis on integrating multiple externally facing high scale, high volume, always-on mission-critical systems
Ability to create and articulate inspiring vision for the organization
Experience with a data driven approach to designing and implementing technology
Extensive experience deploying system management configuration tools (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, CF) to manage compute infrastructure at scale
Highly collaborative with experience in leading and influencing teams
Foster a culture of excellence and ownership
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the regulatory, security, privacy and risk safeguards required of a global financial institution
