The VP of Technical Accounting and Policy will serve as the subject matter expert for all complex and non-routine accounting transactions as well as administration and oversight of accounting policies.
What will you do?
Preparation of technical accounting memos for non-routine and complex transactions
Review and analyze new accounting pronouncements and work closely with members of Finance to assess the impact to the Company, ensure awareness of transactions and accounting impacts
Monitor the activities of all accounting standard setting bodies (i.e., SEC, FASB)
Administer and oversee all accounting policies
Accounting and reporting for share-based payments including stock options, warrants, restricted stock awards, restricted stock units, ESPP, and performance based awards
Lead and manage acquisitions, including purchase accounting and accounting integration
Conduct the firm’s annual impairment test for goodwill; evaluate and assess the firm’s intangible assets for impairment
Preparation and analysis of quarterly and monthly equity compensation work papers to support equity and EPS
Identify and participate in the execution of key Sox controls
Work collaboratively within Finance, as well as partnering with the business on strategic and growth initiatives

What does success look like in the first 90 days?
A successful individual would be able to make an immediate impact on the team by applying previous accounting experience to ongoing and new transactions. They would also demonstrate strong written communication skills when writing and editing accounting white papers and communicating impact of accounting standards on business decisions.

What skills, experiences, and education are required?
Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant technical experience; including experience at a Big 4 accounting firm (preferably at manager level or above)
Strong knowledge of US GAAP
Strong communication and analytical skills; ability to effectively communicate complex accounting rules in plain English
Strong leadership, interpersonal and management skills are essential for this role
