AVP, Digital Content Strategist

We’re currently looking to hire a seasoned Digital Content Strategist within LPL’s Marketing & Communications organization. This person will be capable of managing projects from concept to launch, infusing a digital roadmap with content strategies, and delivering digital content experiences that balance customer experience against business requirements.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Digital Content Strategy, the person in this role will be responsible developing, implementing, and evolving an editorial style guide. This style guide will be tested and applied to content that’s part of our Service Transformation initiative – a large, complex effort to optimize and improve the way our financial advisors use our technology, consume our content, and experience our brand.

We’re looking for someone who is part visionary, part tactician and a masterful relationship builder. The ideal candidate is someone who has demonstrated success leading highly motivated project teams with proven optimization experience, preferably in the financial services industry. The ideal candidate will also have experience creating, improving, and/or adhering to an editorial style guide based on AP style.

The position is based in Fort Mill, South Carolina (Charlotte Metro area) or San Diego, California.    


Essential Functions:  

  • Work with digital and content teams to craft, implement, manage and evolve a content style guide in support of our digital brand expression and Service Transformation effort; evangelize best practices to drive engagement.
  • Work with product managers, creative resources (IxD, VzD, graphic design and video production), channel owners, SEO specialists, social media consultants, content publishers, email producers, and analytic specialists to solve complex business problems and meet diverse user needs related to Service Transformation.
  • Develop and deliver content strategies in support of cross-organizational acquisition, retention and/or service goals.
  • Maintain and apply digital content strategies to improve and increase customer engagement. In addition to engagement, ensure any content created for online consumption is optimized for specific user goals, search, or KPIs.
  • Employ empathy to imagine and create intuitive, accessible and easy-to-understand digital experiences that delight our core audiences.
  • Advocate across the organization for a consistent content production lifecycle, and influence partners to embrace an enterprise content strategy.
  • Utilize a holistic and human-centered approach to content planning and optimization, from research and insight generation to concept and deliverables.
  • Partner across teams (corporate communication, corporate newsroom, marketing, service, etc.) to create broad content strategies by aggregating, curating and optimizing existing content assets.
  • Communicate with technical-minded colleagues to deliver innovative solutions (i.e. content management, digital asset management, workflow solutions, etc.).
  • Handle multiple projects concurrently and prioritize requirements into short and long-term plans.
  • Adapt to and succeed in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment, with the ability to be a thought leader.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a digital content strategy, senior copywriter or senior editor role at a major financial services institution, large retailer, or other regulated industry.
  • Strong writing and editing skills for B2B, B2C and B2B2C, digital environments and applications, marketing, UX/transactional writing and/or product content strategy.
  • History of leading strategic content programs across a wide spectrum of complex digital experience initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of user experience across devices, platforms and channels.


Job Requirements:

Minimum Education Required:  Bachelors degree
Minimum Experience Required: 3-5 years

Software/Systems Skills Required/Preferred: Word, PowerPoint , Excel, Access, Workfront or other project management software, Sharepoint, Adobe Experience Manager or other CMS
