AVP-Mergers and Acquisitions Senior Cyber Risk Consultant, Advisor Security

As the AVP Mergers and Acquisitions Senior Cyber Risk Consultant for Advisor Security you will join a growing organization responsible for securing our advisors and their clients, enabling the business to innovate while balancing the need to reduce risk. This newly created role will also support LPL’s continued strategic growth through M&A activities and will support efforts to ensure LPL’s risk posture is maintained throughout the lifecycle of the LPL M&A process.

You will partner with business, technology and relevant stakeholders to securely help them meet their goals and objectives, provide information security and risk management consultation on initiatives, programs and projects and collaborate and innovate with other security groups within LPL. You will operate pragmatic in your understanding of risk and security, but willing to challenge and escalate when needed.

What will you do?

  • Provide information security and risk management consulting, recommendations and guidance to the business on Advisor facing products, initiatives and M&A activities.
  • Influence the business and M&A stakeholders to help them understand and adequately mitigate cyber risks
  • Implement appropriate security controls based off LPL policy and industry best practices.
  • Track security risks across various business units and security domains.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on new Advisor technologies and products.
  • Work cross functionally with both LPL and target entity technology and business teams to include but not limited to; M&A, information security, architecture and engineering, compliance and legal teams.
  • Act as a liaison between LPL’s M&A teams, engineering, compliance and legal teams to support the technical due diligence and integration of acquired entities; adhering to LPL information security requirements, standards policies and procedures.
  •  Mature and evolve the LPL M&A process, methodology and approach to align acquisitions with LPL information security standards and best practices.  

What does your success look like in the first 90 days?

  • Develop an understanding of LPL’s infrastructure, existing security processes, policies and procedures for incoming acquired entities.
  • Partner with technology teams to understand LPL’s technical security integration and architecture requirements through cross-functional team collaboration.
  • Support information security integration efforts for new M&A activities  
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders in order to achieve program success.
  • Influence a broad set of stakeholders to ensure Information Security is involved early on in M&A as a strategic partner.

What skills, experience, and education are required?

  • 5+ years in a security engineering or IT security risk related role, preferably at a financial services/technology company or in a regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging cybersecurity risks, industry security controls, standards, policies and best practices, risk analysis methods and mitigations.
  • You have a broad understanding of all security domains and demonstrated knowledge of security architecture, networking, identity and access management, software development, cryptography and operations.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and infrastructure security (AWS, Azure)
  • Ability to speak with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM preferred.
