Manager - Advisory Operations/Billing

Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Advisory Operations/Billing Manager is to oversee day-to-day processes, plan staffing levels, ensure service level agreements are being met or exceeded and conduct or lead the monthly billing process. Strong leadership, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to motivate, inspire and empower and a desire to work closely with others are required.

Essential Functions:

  • Subject matter expert on operational policies and procedures with a primary focus on the overall Advisory Billing process and related processes
  • Assist in the creation of a team environment through positive enforcement, offering additional support through engagement activities, training sessions, and team huddles
  • Support the diverse needs of the team by demonstrating leadership, coaching, and mentoring including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities. Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals with an expectation of accountability and regular feedback.
  • Recognize excellence in quality, service, and/or productivity and manage disciplinary issues in accordance with corporate guidelines.
  • Manage poor performance and effectively handle performance management conversations and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Evaluate and verify employee performance through review of completed work assignments and work techniques; identify staff development and training needs and ensure training is provided.
  • Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, telecommuting, cover for absenteeism and overtime scheduling.
  • Plan, evaluate and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance the speed, quality, efficiency and output.
  • Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
  • Increase Productivity - Review of processing items out of SLA with direct reports, analyze and improve current workflows and manual processes within the group to develop a superior service experience for advisors.
  • Maintain transparent communication. Appropriately communicate organization information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, IM and regular interpersonal communication.
  • Continually create measurable efficiencies with an emphasis on quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development and high performance.
  • Review department performance data to monitor and measure departmental productivity, goal achievement and overall effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of leadership in a team environment
  • Strong understanding of Advisory Products, Centrally Managed Platforms and other LPL products
  • Knowledgeable in Advisory Billing and other LPL Advisory Products
  • Working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • FINRA licensing a plus
  • Six Sigma, Agile a plus

Software/System Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite required; BETA, Documentum, Oracle and Dynamics preferred
