Job Overview:

The Manager, Accounting will assist in leading the team responsible for maintaining the accounting records and systems for advisory revenue for LPL Financial Holdings and its subsidiaries.  This position is primarily responsible for supervising journal entries and account reconciliations for advisory revenue and related production expenses, along with ensuring timely and accurate responses to internal and external audit requests.  This leadership role will assist in implementing process improvements to help the team streamline and enhance efficiencies, promote the analysis and communication of results and provide proactive customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the accounting activities related to advisory revenue and related production expenses, including regular operational reporting

  • Coordination of the monthly closing process, including journal entry review, balance sheet account reconciliation review, and variance analysis

  • Support the quarterly and year-end audits, as well as internal audits, financial reporting deliverables, SOX audits and FINRA exams

  • Maintenance of appropriate accounting procedures and control descriptions

  • Be an effective leader by helping to prioritize the team’s work to align with department and company goals and work to positively impact employee engagement

  • Provide mentoring and guidance for assigned staff

  • Provide backup as needed to Cash Reconciliation and Regulatory Accounting teams

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with 1-2 years progressive experience directing staff or leading project teams or exceptional performance as a senior staff member

  • Series 99 securities license (or another qualifying securities license) or the ability to pass the Series 99 exam within 120 days of hire date is required

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and activities and adapt to change

  • Strong leadership and management skills, particularly in managing organizational change and providing feedback and development opportunities to staff

  • Strong understanding of internal controls

Preferences:

  • Experience in public accounting and broker/dealers is preferred

  • Experience with Oracle Financials and Excel Spreadsheet Server a plus

  • Experience working with Trintech or Blackline auto-reconciliation tools is a plus.

  • CPA license, MBA or Series 7 or 27 securities licenses a plus
