Senior Mobile Application Security Engineer

Position Summary

LPL Financial is seeking a Sr. Mobile Application Security Engineer to join its Information Security department.  The primary responsibility of this position is to develop, integrate, and deploy secure mobile solutions for geographically dispersed business units, personnel and customers. This position will work with our product management and development teams to review all mobile applications and work on various new and ongoing development/enhancement and application onboarding projects. The role will work closely with application developers and vendors to build, configure, test and implement secure mobile solutions that meet the business needs of the enterprise and are aligned and consistent with enterprise IT strategies and plans

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with mobile application product teams to review security during the design and implementation process
  • Create application threat models and provide guidance on effective countermeasures
  • Provide subject matter expertise on encryption, security controls, and secure programming practices across LPL
  • Contribute to security policy, standards, and guidelines related to Information Security
  • Evaluate new technologies for securing the organization

Qualifications

  • Ability to engage with teams to review mobile application architectures and recommend secure designs for a fast paced, engineering-driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying security concepts and engineering solutions
  • Understanding of mobile development and operating systems such as iOS and Android
  • Knowledge of mobile security vulnerabilities and platforms (iOS, Android) and countermeasures
  • Experience with application programming
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or Business
  • Work with mobile application product teams to review security during the design and implementation process
  • Create application threat models and provide guidance on effective countermeasures
  • Provide subject matter expertise on encryption, security controls, and secure programming practices across LPL
  • Contribute to security policy, standards, and guidelines related to Information Security
  • Evaluate new technologies for securing the organization
  • J2EE Certification and/or CISSP certification are highly desirable
  • Experience with programming languages like Java, JavaScript, JSP/Servlets
  • Experience with Web Technologies: SPML/SOAP, web and application servers, XML
  • Deep understanding of and experience with mobile applications and architectures
  • Solid understanding of SOX requirements for access governance
  • Ability to work with geographically distributed and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in SOX controlled environments
  • Use of ITIL methodologies for path-to-production
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly, identifying the best option in an emergency situation
  • Ability to work with different teams and interact with technical and business personnel across the Enterprise
