Sr Application Security Analyst

 We are currently looking to hire a Senior Engineer Information Security to join as a part of LPL’s Technology Information Security organization. The position is a high visibility position, which is responsible for activities relating to monitoring, evaluating, and responding to security events. The Sr. Engineer receives, researches, triages and documents all security events and alerts as they are received. This individual supports multiple security-related platforms and technologies, application security issues, interfacing with others within the IT organization, as well as other internal business units and external customers/partners. Events will be generated from endpoints, networks, security information and event management (SIEM) systems, threat intelligence platforms, employees, third-parties and other sources. The Sr. Engineer works closely with the LPL Development team to evaluate and assist in the remediation of application code and vulnerabilities.  

The Sr. Engineer Information Security reports to the AVP Information Security Network Operations and is an involved member of the Information Security team. This role must display an in-depth understanding of new trends and technologies related to IT security and compliance, and contribute to the company IT security strategy and roadmap. 

Essential Functions:

As an active member of the team, monitor and process response for security events on a 24x7 basis.

  • Work with Development Team’s and assist them with the identification of vulnerabilities applications
  • Work with Development Team’s on remediation of the vulnerabilities utilizing a risk based approach
  • Experience is pentesting, red teaming and software security assessments
  • Design and apply advanced security techniques
  • Develop processes and tools to identify security flaws in code
  • Create automated tests to encourage and enforce security controls
  • Experience with microservice architectures, or large distributed systems
  • Expertise with browser security controls and web application security best practices
  • Software development experience with two or more of the following: AngularJS, Java, Tibco BW, .Net, Python, Ruby
  • Experience working with operational or DevOps teams
  • Aid in threat and vulnerability research across event data collected by systems
  • Maintain working knowledge of advanced threat detection as the industry evolves
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • 5-7 years of information security monitoring and response or related experience
  • Experience working in a 24x7 operational environment, with geographic disparity preferred
  • Knowledge of security standards, principles, techniques and technologies (OWASP, ISO27001, NIST etc.)
  • Ability to identify security issues and risks, and develop mitigation plans for network infrastructures consisting of firewalls, routing & switching devices, peripherals, server/client dependencies, and mobile devices.
  • Adept at using scripting languages such as Python
  • Working knowledge of Java stack
  • Understanding of modern web application development
  • Experience working independently, or with minimal guidance
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communications skills and interpersonal skills
