TheSVP, Accounting Operationsisresponsiblefortheleadership and operationalmanagement of thegeneralaccounting functions for LPLHoldings on a consolidated basisand each of itsstand-alonesubsidiaries.Located in San Diego or Fort Mill and reporting to theSVP, Corporate Controller,thispositionwilllead a team of ~40accounting and administrativeprofessionalsdomestically.

TheSVP, Accounting Operations willmonitorand holdtheultimateresponsibility for thetimelinessandaccuracy of our monthlyfinancialclose,compliancewith internalcontrols,andtheoveralleffectiveness of accountingoperationswhich includesstaffdevelopment andengagement.In thisrole,theSVPwillalsoserve astheprimaryliaison forinternaland externalauditors.

Theroleis a highlyvisibleleadership rolewithin a publicly-held companyand an idealopportunity for a changeagentwho enjoysproviding thought-leadership,partnering withcross-functionalteams,andestablishing bestin classprocessesin a dynamicenvironment.


TheSVP, Accounting Operationswillberesponsibleforoverseeing allaspects of theorganization’sgeneralaccountingfunction.Specificresponsibilitiesinclude:

  • Providing strategy and leadership:thisrolewillbeexpected to providethought-leadership,strategicinsights,and regularcommunicationsto thestaffand leadership abouttheorganization andperformance of theController’sGroup,extraordinary items,and progress vs. goalsand strategicinitiatives.Asan SVP,thisindividualwillberesponsible for driving theengagement,development,and overall performance of theteam’shuman capital.Partnering withtheCorporate Controller and other members of thebroaderFinanceleadership teamare a must.

  • Planning,organizing and executing:thisrolewillberesponsibleformanaging theControllership accounting operations in an organized fashion to producemonthlyfinancials for theconsolidatedentity, a broker/dealer, a trustcompany,and other subsidiaries.Thefinancialand operationaldataproduced bytheteamwillneed to complywith US GAAP,FINRA,and otherstandards/regulations.Theaccountingoperationsincludegeneralledgeraccounting,accountspayable,accountsreceivable,fixed asset & capitalproject management,reconciliations, revenue recognition and consolidations.

  • Monitoring and improvingprocesses: thisrolewillberesponsibleformaintainingand enhancingaccountingoperations,servicelevels,financesystems,andoperationalmetricsrelated to staffing,productivity,and effectiveness.

  • Complying withinternalcontrolsand statutory requirements:thisrolewillberesponsibleformaintaining and enhancingthedepartment’srelationshipswith internaland externalauditors, andeffectivelymanaging thetimelyand effectivecompletion of numerousauditandaudit-relatedengagements.

  • Other: Enhancing existing and documenting newpoliciesand procedures.Focusing on benchmarking andbestpractices.


  • Experienced Controller or FinanceProfessionalwith15+years of experiencewith5-10 of thosebeing in a management/leadership capacity;financialservicesrelatedexperiencestronglypreferred

  • Bachelor’sdegreerequired,Master’sdegreepreferred.Degreein Accounting,Finance or relateddisciplineisrequired

  • CPA licenseand publiccompanyexperiencestronglypreferred

  • Knowledge of OracleR12or a comparableaccountingsystem

  • Experienced peopleleaderwith largerteams;an individualfocused on organizationaldesign andeffectivenessand thedelivery of resultsthrough effectiveplanning,organization,and team-building

  • Excellentoraland writtencommunication/presentation skills,including development of reportingpackages

  • Processre-engineering experience

  • Teamplayerfocused on managing numerousrelationships,changing priorities, and simultaneousdeliverables

  • Motivatedindividualwho enjoysbeing challenged,collaborating,and constantlyimprovingprocessesforthebenefitofthecompanyandtheteam
