SVP, Comprehensive Advice Product Strategy & Operations

LPL Financial is seeking a Senior Vice President within LPL’s newly formed Comprehensive Advice organization. The Comprehensive Advice team is focused on building new offerings to help our 19K+ independent advisors expand the advice they provide beyond traditional investment management. These new offerings will target the needs of mass affluent end investors and create an ensemble practice “feel” for advisors. Through a tech-enabled, human-delivered model, Comprehensive Advice will scale advice delivery while driving fee-based or subscription revenue to LPL.

The Product Development lead will be responsible for:

Driving discovery and product design for new Comprehensive Advice offerings (e.g., tax planning, estate planning), with the support of LPL Labs Stand up overall Product Management of “graduated” Comprehensive Advice offerings (e.g., paraplanner, medicare solutions), including product enhancements, P&L management, and technology platform development

The Product lead will report into the EVP, Comprehensive Advice and partner closely with the Client Success lead, Operations lead, Private Client team, internal sales specialists, LPL Technology, and other business partners to deliver. This role will also hire and build a product & platform management team within the Comprehensive Advice organization to support the new suite of solutions.

What will you do?

Discovery and Product Design for Comprehensive Advice Offerings

  • Conducting primary research with advisors and investors, and translating into profiles of who we should to target
  • Defining where we will play in the competitive landscape and where there are new opportunities to create value
  • Building the customer experience and desired journey, for both advisors and investors
  • Establishing design principles for the Comprehensive Advice suite of services and component offerings
  • Designing new offerings, including tax planning and estate planning, and partnering with LPL Labs to incubate

Stand Up Product Management of “Graduated” Comprehensive Advice Offerings

  • Identifying, prioritizing, and leading the implementation of product enhancements beyond MVP
  • Partnering with Finance to develop and evaluate offering financials, including a P&L and unit economics
  • Leading a dedicated technology team in the development of a digital Comprehensive Advice experience

What skills and experiences are advantageous?

  • 10+ years of experience developing new products and solutions, preferably in a B2B context or within financial services
  • Experience working in a startup a plus
  • Experience with financial planning, financial advisors, or comprehensive advice a plus
  • Comfort regularly presenting to senior leadership on learnings, progress, and path forward
  • Desire and willingness to be part of a brand new organization and build a team from ground up
  • Proficiency leading cross-functional teams in an agile environment
  • Desire to be part of an entrepreneurial team and an ability to succeed within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, grounded in tangible results
  • Comfort wearing “multiple hats” in a startup environment, where responsibilities frequently extend beyond defined roles
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams and business leaders to manage, execute and implement tactical plans that you designed
  • The preferred candidate will be local to an LPL corporate office
