Role description

The Vice President, Business Development Officer will be part of our innovative, entrepreneurial, high-performing Enterprise Sales team that is focused on Financial Institutions. The individual will be responsible for consulting with large banks and credit unions around their entire wealth management business (retail, trust, RIA). The VP, Business Development Officer will be responsible for selling into large opportunities, working with them through the due diligence process, and leading coordination and execution with program management and other internal stakeholders.

What will you do as the Vice President, Business Development Officer?

  • Leverage a consultative sales process to support LPL’s growth strategy for the institutional space across the trust and unified wealth offerings— collaborate on strategic initiatives and execution of growth strategies, including cross-functional awareness for future areas of development and program management deliverables.

  • Develop and maintain an expert awareness of the trust business line.

  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with internal business partners to strategize and develop innovative solutions to attract and scale our integrated broker and trust unified offering, while serving as the accountable party to milestones, timelines and outcomes.

  • Learn quickly from client, partner and prospect feedback, and apply an entrepreneurial mindset to iterate the offering nimbly.

  • Collaborate with client service, solutions, and consulting groups to identify opportunities for process, capability, and experience development and lead improvement efforts to increase optimal client experience and to aid client retention.

  • Leverage market data to identify opportunities, influence capabilities development, and inform marketing campaigns.

  • Effectively leverage data to track key program performance indicators, identify trends and ensure projects and programs align to company priorities.

  • Aid in sharing product knowledge, future enhancements and product roadmaps to internal stakeholders and prospective clients, to support sales efforts.  

What are we looking for?

We want a high energy, outside of the box thinker with a strong understanding of the trust and wealth management industry and deep subject matter expertise of banks, credit unions, and trust organizations. The VP, Business Development Officer will have a unique ability to understand the various trust and wealth management needs of banks and credit unions, the different regulatory environments in which they operate, their different interested parties, and the ecosystem that they require for outstanding support. We are looking for people with strong organizational, critical thinking and analytical skills who thrive in a team selling approach.

What skills and experiences are advantageous?

  • Minimum 8-10 years of extensive experience working in the trust and wealth management industry, with a high level of proficiency in the bank, credit union, and/or trust space required.

  • Familiarity with the unique business considerations for trust management and how they differ from other retail wealth management and advisor businesses, including regulatory compliance, technology, service experience, etc.

  • Desire to be part of an entrepreneurial team and an ability to succeed within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, grounded in tangible results.

  • Superior analytical skills with an ability to identify relevant data, evaluate business opportunities within the context of a larger organization and present findings in a clear and actionable manner

  • Team-player with a positive can-do attitude, with an ability to both contribute as an individual and develop a motivated, high performing team of employees.

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills to articulate an effective, concise and impactful message or story at the right altitude to a variety of internal and external audiences.  

  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams and business leaders to manage, execute and implement strategies that you designed.

  • Strong familiarity with the MS Office suite and Salesforce.

  • Ability to travel as needed (approx. 25-40% of time post COVID).
