Job Overview:

Evaluating new technologies and building core technology capabilities is a key enabler to innovation. VP, Digital Innovation Leaders are often fast-learning technology generalists who are able to spot and articulate the business value proposition for technologies, foster a culture of innovation and create strategic partnerships internal and external to the company.


  • Develop an understanding of LPL’s product roadmaps to understand how the vision within those domains is evolving to better align with the market. Work with the business to identify and lead the innovation opportunities.

  • Foster the culture of innovation by encouraging outside in thinking, fail fast approach,

  • Be a change agent by coaching and influencing teams with an innovative mindset.

  • Lead the various types of Hackathons, Disruptive tech talk sessions.

  • Formulate emerging technology strategies that will set the foundation to solve complex business strategic goals.

  • Do Market research, Provide Point of View docs based on Industry trends, emerging tech and LPL needs

  • Communicate with cross-functional technology teams to instigate a “test, learn, iterate” approach to emerging technology adoption.

  • Coordinate with business units to identify problems and manage Innovation lab pipeline. Coordinate with Engineering teams in Digital Innovation to carry out PoCs.

  • Manage Patent Program

  • Lead the delivery of a range of applied innovation projects that could vary based on user, problem/opportunity defined

  • Create and maintain external partnerships with incubators, accelerators and Fintech startups.

What are we looking for?

  • 15+ years of progressive technology work experience

  • 6+ years engagement within digital technologies and digital product management

  • Strong modern technical competence including having deployed a cloud architected system with API first design principles

  • Previous experience working in Innovation Lab teams

  • Ability to do a code review of a team member’s contribution and a technology diligence review of a potential acquisition

  • Previous experience in patent ecosystem, either have patents themselves or managed patenting process.

Core Competencies:

  • Deep hands on delivery experience within several of the below technologies, and conversant knowledge of the remainder - Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence Solutions, NLP/Chatbots, Data science, Predictive Analytics, Block Chain, AR/VR, Edge computing

  • Capable of inspiring technical teams to maximum levels of performance and inspire creativity and openness

  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences regarding business impacts leveraging narrative and visual story telling

  • Experience with human centered innovation (design thinking)

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Highly curious with demonstrated ability to acquire new knowledge and skills

  • Flexible mindset with the ability to see opportunities from multiple angles to best understand how to apply available solutions

  • Effective interpersonal skills and collaborative style

  • Ability to manage teams at multiple locations and drive partnerships

  • Demonstrated time management skills and people management skills

  • A deep understanding of metrics/dashboards that drive an environment and culture of continuous improvement


  • Prior Financial Services or Fintech experience strongly desired
