VP, Platform Experience, Product and Platform Management

The Product Management team within LPL’s Investor & Investment Solutions (IIS) group is responsible for delivering a highly competitive set of investment solutions.  This includes the platform and product offering, pricing, advisor/client access to solutions, and promotional activities.  The team’s goal from an investment product management perspective is to enhance our advisors’ and investors’ experience while helping to improve our firm’s economic and risk profiles. 

This role will be responsible for managing the design and development of advisor/client access to solutions through platform technologies.  These advisory facing technologies represent the gateway to advisors contributing assets to the platform.  The specific technologies along the advisory continuum extend from planning and proposal generation systems to performance reporting and billing.  This role will work closely with Technology Product Management in IIS, the Technology team, the Product and Platform team as well as Service Trading and Operations teams.  The over-arching goal is to deliver a platform experience that renders the use of 3rd party platforms as unnecessary and drive net new platform asset growth.  The role will also require understanding the market landscape for platform technologies, including where the industry is trending and innovating.  The position should network with others in the industry and be able to effectively communicate our competitive differentiators and weaknesses.  Success in this role will be to push the organization to a point of establishing an integrated platform where all pieces along the advisory continuum are connected.  The specific job duties include:

  • {15%}  Building and maintaining a competitive matrix of 3rd party platform application providers and relative strengths/weaknesses to LPL’s platform.  Routinely interacting with financial technology companies.
  • {15%} Continuously soliciting feedback from internal business units and external sources (clients) to best understand platform technology needs
  • {25%}  Design the integrated platform experience
  • {25%}  Driving the vision with all parties to push a common goal of achieving an integrated platform.
  • {20%}  Subject Matter Expert to internal sales and consulting teams to field client inquiries

This position requires a high level of knowledge of advisor’s use of advisory technologies and how that feeds into advisory programs.  The position requires a candidate with a product management background who can think independently, creatively problem-solve, connect various thoughts, observations and results to develop innovative solutions and new insights that drive to an improved offering.  This role requires the ability to operate in partnership with other teams within IIS and Finance, Service/Trading, Operations and Legal/Risk teams in order to maximize the team’s value add to the organization.


  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees preferred
  • 10+ years business experience; 5 years of product/platform experience
  • Knowledgeable on the advisory landscape, specifically UMAs and future state platforms including familiarity with competition (broker-dealers, TAMPs, etc.), platform/ product trends and regulation.
  • Platform management or operational experience associated with evaluating dynamic decisions and contributing towards recommendations that enhance the product offering
  • Ability to lead change and interact effectively with business partners leveraging strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Public speaking experience
  • Experience, credibility, and ability to speak knowledgeably about various investment products and technology applications
  • Must possess a strong technology background and an ability to bridge any communication gaps between the needs of the business and development through technology or 3rd party application providers.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deliver quality outcomes within short timeframes.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, strong work ethic.
  • Must demonstrate a strong business and financial acumen.
