The Vice President, Regional Director will be managing a territory to represent the LPL platform of services to the broker dealer community with an ultimate goal of recruiting qualified advisors, banks, credit unions, broker dealers, and large enterprises to the LPL platform. The VP of Business Development will travel throughout their territory building relationships with advisors and institutions at competing firms who may be open to considering a change in affiliation.
Leads are generated from a number of sources including referrals from existing LPL OSJ’s, networking with local wholesalers in the region, and firm marketing/advertising through industry publications. Extensive phone work is instrumental for the success of the VP, Business Development, therefore the ability to effectively articulate over the telephone is of critical importance. Ongoing travel within the region is also instrumental to an individual’s success in the role.
We will ideally be looking for sales talent to cover the Pacific Northwest or the Southwest.
We are seeking an experienced, high-caliber sales person who may hail from a few possible backgrounds including; Sales professionals representing a custody or clearing platform to the RIA market, or an accomplished Wire House manager, producer, or product specialist.
The ideal candidate will have retail Financial Advisor experience during their career, preferably from one of the major wirehouses, as an understanding of the “breakaway broker” market in the wirehouse community is critical. Comfort level with a longer term sales process is important and excellent organizational and follow up skills is instrumental for success in this role.
Candidate should have a strong understanding and passion for the financial industry and financial planning process overall; intellectual curiosity to really learn a platform and technology is also key to a recruiters’ success. An upbeat personality, self-discipline, polished professional demeanor, strong verbal communication and relationship building skills are also all extremely important.
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- Key characteristics of a successful person in the role are a strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, having a consultative approach, and strong negotiating ability
- Ideal recent experience in External Wholesaling or Territory Management, Financial Advisory, Regional or Complex Sales Management, custody sales, clearing service sales, Advisor recruitment, or business development is required
- Extensive knowledge of the Broker/Dealer industry, custodial industry, and wealth management technology (trading & rebalancing, performance reporting, or financial planning) is required
- Candidate must live within the territory or currently be managing this territory
