The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Financial Risk Management (FRM) is responsible for the management, development, success, and strategy of LPL’s risk framework for market, credit, and liquidity risk. The SVP will actively engage with partners across multiple business units throughout the organization to identify and assess financial risks across LPL’s business models. Additionally, the SVP is responsible for developing a framework, instituting parameters and periodically assessing and escalating compliance to senior management. A successful candidate must be knowledgeable in the market, credit, and liquidity risks across a wide array of uses while performing and overseeing analysis.

Drive approach and all financial risk management activities of the firm
Develop, operationalize, and maintain robust enhancements to market, credit, and liquidity risk management coverage
Oversee margin lending and advisory lending products and support the ongoing maintenance of each program
Agree, track, and report on metrics to monitor financial sensitivities associated with risks across business lines
Chair the firm’s financial risk committee
Support the expansion of activities into emerging areas of opportunity including securities lending, hedging, etc
Create insights into the modeling and methodology of liquidity stress testing
Must possess the ability to interpret FINRA, SEC, and state regulations and understand how they should apply to the firm’s activities
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field; preferably an MBA and/or Juris Doctorate
FINRA licenses preferred (SIE, 7, and 24)
10-15 years of industry experience (must be in financial services) in risk management, finance or other relevant internal control discipline
The ability to take a concept through the idea to execution lifecycle
Strong understanding of banking or broker dealer operations and where threats exist therein
Extensive knowledge of regulatory and reporting standards associated with broker dealer activity. Ability to effectively analyze situations, applying solutions to achieve resolution.
Up to 10% travel may be needed
Familiar with Independent Broker-Dealer/RIA Advisor Model
Ability to support Senior Management decision processes
Comfortable working in ambiguity and willingness to help get to the right outcome
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Requires minimal management oversight for day-to-day work responsibilities
Hands-on, strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem solving
Ability to work under pressure/deadlines and manage and prioritize multiple priorities
Exceptional interpersonal and partnership skills and the ability to positively influence outcomes, particularly in complex matters
Highly motivated and able to adapt to changing priorities
The SVP should be skilled and experienced in engaging in high-level stakeholders such as regulators, advisors and senior leaders. Additionally the candidate must understand, utilize, and stay current with industry best practices, market standards, the regulatory environment, and the competitive landscape to optimize results.
